HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Church of the Holy Cross in Hutchinson is actively striving to establish week long 24/7 Eucharistic Adoration.

Increased opportunity for Eucharistic Adoration, which is being promoted through the Adoratio Foundation In His Presence campaign, will require a minimum of 500 individuals to commit to one hour of prayer in Eucharistic Adoration each week in the church to have someone always praying through the week.

“God calls us to pray often and without ceasing several times throughout the Bible,” said Bishop Gerald Vincke, Bishop of the Diocese of Salina. “I am convinced that Eucharistic Adoration of Jesus, truly present in the Blessed Sacrament, is the means to bringing peace to our world.” “Jesus is waiting for you! We are inviting you to spend an hour with Him by signing up for an hour of adoration,” said Holy Cross parish pastor Father Jerome Spexarth.

Also known as Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Eucharist Adoration offers an opportunity for the faithful to pray and sit in silence with Jesus Christ who is physically present in body, blood, soul, and divinity, via a consecrated host. Catholics believe this central teaching of the Church; that Christ becomes truly present in the Eucharist when the priest consecrates the bread and wine during the Mass, and they are transformed into Jesus Christ’s literal body and blood. For this reason, the consecrated host in Eucharistic Adoration is never left unattended.
