STAFFORD, Kan. — The City of Stafford began generating electric power from their own plants Sunday. City officials said this was done at the request of Midwest Energy from which the city usually purchases wholesale power for their municipal distribution system.
The Southwest Power Pool, which oversees electric transmission across all of parts of 14 states, issued a Conservative Operations Advisory for their region at 4 AM Sunday due to factors including high loads, generation outage uncertainty, and severe cold temperatures. This advisory is scheduled to be in place until 9 PM Tuesday.
SPP said at this time this advisory and two others issued earlier do not require the public to conserve energy.
