McPHERSON, Kan. — After two years of serving as McPherson Main Street Director, Johni Doughman has decided to resign.
Doughman shared the decision with Main Street members on Friday, Aug. 14.
“I have truly enjoyed getting to know and work alongside so many of you,” Doughman stated. “It has been incredibly rewarding to be part of the growth and energy happening in downtown McPherson, and I am so proud of everything we have accomplished together. From events and promotions to new businesses and community projects, it has been a privilege to help showcase what makes McPherson such a special place.”
Although Doughman is stepping away from the director position, she still plans to stick around and work closely with downtown businesses and cheer on Main Street as it continues to grow.
“Thank you for trusting me, supporting me, and allowing me to be a small part of your businesses and your stories,” Doughman said. “I will always be grateful for the friendships and relationships I have built through Main Street.”
The Ark Antiques and Flea Market made an announcement on their Facebook page on Saturday, Aug. 15 that they have hired Doughman as the full-time manager of Ben’s Bins, which is set to open on Saturday, Sept. 19. Ben’s Bins will be located at 1337 W Kansas Ave in McPherson, the same location where Discount City previously operated before closing in July of this year.
In the post, The Ark wrote that Doughman has worked for The Ark in the past, helping with promotions and customer service.
“Johni is perfect for this role,” said Ben Coffey, founder/owner of CoffeyHouse Ventures LLC, the company which owns Ben’s Bins and The Ark. “As much as I hate to lose her as a fantastic Main Street Director, I am excited for her innovative and reliable leadership in this new adventure we’ll take together!”
Coffey added that he’s known Doughman for years. He trusts and respects her, and will have a routine presence in the store to support Doughman and her team, but she will be ultimately running it and being the face of Ben’s Bins.
“I am very excited about my new adventure with Ben’s Bins,” Doughman told Ad Astra Radio. “I’ve enjoyed our time together, and I am sure we will see each other around town.”
