McPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Center for Health is proud to recognize Tara Williams, Executive Assistant to the Chief of Provider & Clinic Operations, for receiving the prestigious Excellence in Service Award from the Kansas Association of Medical Staff Services.
Williams was selected as the award recipient from four nominations across the state and was formally recognized during the annual KAMSS Conference. This year’s conference saw its largest attendance to date, making the recognition an especially meaningful moment among peers in medical staff services.
The Excellence in Service Award honors individuals who demonstrate outstanding professionalism, advocacy, leadership, education, and contributions to advancing standards within the medical staff services profession.
With more than 20 years of service at McPherson Center for Health, Williams has built a reputation for precision, integrity, and deep expertise. She leads the hospital’s privileging process, a critical function that ensures all providers meet rigorous credentialing and compliance standards before delivering care. Her attention to detail and strong understanding of regulatory requirements play a direct role in supporting patient safety and high-quality care.
“Tara’s impact reaches every corner of our organization,” said Carol Fickes, Chief of Provider and Clinic Operations. “She is a trusted resource for physicians, administrators, and staff, and she manages complex processes with a level of professionalism and confidence that sets the standard.”
Beyond her technical expertise, Williams is known for her leadership behind the scenes. As the sole individual overseeing the privileging department, she guides processes that affect every provider in the organization. She also mentors team members, strengthens workflows, and continually looks for ways to improve efficiency. One recent accomplishment includes successfully transitioning the hospital’s entire active medical staff from paper records to a fully electronic system.
Williams is also a strong advocate for the medical staff services profession. She works closely with leadership and providers to uphold best practices while promoting improvements that enhance both provider success and patient outcomes. Her commitment to ongoing education and professional development helps ensure the organization remains aligned with evolving industry standards.
As part of the award recognition, Williams received a $500 stipend and a commemorative glass award during a special luncheon presentation at the conference.
McPherson Center for Health is grateful for Williams’ continued dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence, and proud to have her as part of the team.
