Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce to Host Primary Candidate Forum for Kansas State Representatives and Reno County Commissioners

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce announced today that it will host a Primary Candidate Forum featuring individuals seeking election to the Kansas House of Representatives and the Reno County Commission.

The forum will be held on Wednesday, July 8, at 6:00 p.m. at the Hutchinson Community College Stringer Fine Arts Center, 600 E. 11th Avenue.

Candidates invited to participate represent contested races for the Kansas House of Representatives and the Reno County Commission, including:

  • Kansas House District 102: Representative Kyler Sweely and Tyson Thrall
  • Kansas House District 101: Kevin O’Brien and Casey Slaughter
  • Reno County Commission District 1: Dawn Varney and Mike Sullivan

Debra Teufel, President and CEO of the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce, will serve as moderator for the forum. Candidates will have the opportunity to deliver opening and closing statements, respond to questions during a moderated question-and-answer period, and offer rebuttals as appropriate.

A limited number of audience questions will be accepted during the event. Questions may also be submitted in advance by emailing [email protected].

The forum is free and open to the public. Chamber members and community residents are encouraged to attend and learn more about the candidates.
