The U.S. National Aerobatic Championships is up and running at the Salina Regional Airport September 20–25.
Organizers say over 100 pilots are in Salina to compete in powered planes and gliders.
Pilots compete in five categories, according to International Aerobatic Club materials: Primary, Sportsman, Intermediate, Advanced, and Unlimited in both power and glider aerobatics. In each category, pilots fly at least three routines to be scored by judges on the ground.
1 Known: Fly a pre-published set of maneuvers.
2 Unknown: Flight maneuvers are presented to the pilot 12 hours in advance.

Spectators can see freestyle flights and awards on September 25. The Salina Glider Classic will run alongside, and organizers recommend binoculars for viewing at Fossett Plaza.
