A harvest machine was destroyed by fire while cutting soybeans in Saline County on Friday.
According to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, the 2010 Gleaner S78 lost power, and the driver saw smoke he thought was coming from the hydraulic hose. He tried to use a fire extinguisher but couldn’t stop the flames.
Firefighters from Rural Fire District #5 found the combine fully engulfed.
Total loss is estimated at $152,500.
