HUTCINSON, Kan, – A bomb threat late Wednesday morning prompted security responses at Central Christian School and a partial lockdown in the Buhler Schools district near Union Valley.

Central Christian School (CCS) reported receiving a bomb threat late Wednesday morning. Out of an abundance of caution, the school immediately evacuated all students and staff and contacted the Hutchinson Police Department (HPD).

“While we had no indication that the threat was credible, the safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority, and we acted accordingly,” the school stated.

HPD officers conducted a sweep of the entire campus, including all classrooms and facilities, and found no evidence of a threat. The school has since resumed normal operations.

The HPD will continue a full investigation into the threat.

Buhler Schools was made aware of the bomb threat in the surrounding area of Union Valley, and immediately placed the building in a “lock out,” a measure meaning that activities and classes continued as normal inside the building, with no one allowed to enter or leave.

Both districts emphasized that they take every threat seriously and act with caution to ensure the safety of their students and staff.
