KANSAS – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has officially rescinded boil water advisories for two public water supply systems following successful water quality testing.
Kingman County
The advisory for a portion of the Kingman Co RWD 1 system has been lifted. The original notice was issued following a waterline break that caused a loss of pressure in the distribution system, creating a potential risk for bacterial contamination. The area affected included:
Southeast 120th Ave to Southeast 150th Ave
Southeast 20th St. (MacArthur) to Southeast 60th St. (71st St. South)
Laboratory testing has confirmed no evidence of bacteriological contamination, and the system is deemed safe. For questions, residents may contact the water system at 620-491-0860 or the KDHE at 785-296-5514.
City of Preston (Pratt County)
The boil water advisory for the City of Preston has also been rescinded. This advisory was also prompted by a waterline break that resulted in a loss of pressure. Subsequent laboratory testing indicated no evidence of bacteriological contamination, and officials have confirmed the risks are resolved.
