The McPherson County All Schools Day Button Hunts are back for 2026. This year’s button hunt will begin Friday May 1st at 6:00 AM and will conclude at 11:59 PM Thursday May 7th.
As in past years, there will be two button hunts. In addition to the traditional hunt for a medallion featuring the design from this year’s All Schools Day button, there is also a virtual hunt which was added about ten years ago and was the only event to take place during 2020, when all other events were cancelled due to the pandemic.
The medallion will be hidden on public property someplace within McPherson County. While it is accessible 24 hours a day, hunters are reminded to respect any closed or curfew hours that may be in place. The virtual location is also on public property. Hunters will try to guess the virtual item, which is something within McPherson County that can be seen anytime day or night.
To participate, hunters must purchase both a $5 All Schools Day Button and a Button Hunt license, both of which can be purchased at Ad Astra Radio, 411 East Euclid, during regular business hours. If searching for the medallion, you’ll need to have the license with you.
The winner of each hunt will receive a $250 cash prize, and the medallion finder will also get to keep the medallion as a collector’s item.
Complete Button Hunt rules can be found on the license form.
