HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Ad Astra Radio is honored to once again be a sponsor for the Hutchinson Monarchs baseball game on Cancer Awareness Night, Saturday, June 20, at Hobart-Detter Stadium in Carey Park.

This year marks the 17th year for the Cancer Awareness Night event with the Monarchs, where auction and gate proceeds benefit the Cancer Council of Reno County.

Katie Brown, Development Director with the Cancer Council of Reno County is in her second year with the Cancer Council. She is in charge of donor stewardship and all of the events planned for CCRC throughout the year.

“It’s been such a fun journey and a fun job to be a part of,” Brown said. “I feel really lucky to be in this role.”

Brown gave Ad Astra Radio a rundown on Cancer Awareness Night, sharing that there will be special guests throwing out the first pitch as well as raffles and auction items to bid on or donate to. All great ways to get involved with the Cancer Council.

In addition, there will be Cancer Council board members present to talk with the community and educate the public on what CCRC does.

“We’re excited to be able to honor not only the families that will get recognized on the field, but the families that are there supporting us, and the families that aren’t able to make it,” Brown added. “We want to recognize anyone that’s been affected by cancer, because it’s really affected all of us in some way, shape, or form.”

Ad Astra Radio and Cancer Council of Reno County encourages the public to bring their family out to Hobart-Detter Stadium on Saturday, June 20 at 7 p.m. Come cheer on the Monarchs as they take on the Great Bend Bat Cats!
