LINDSBORG, Kan. – The Smoky Valley Boys Tennis team returns their entire varsity lineup from 2022 that finished tied for third in Class 3-1A. On their way to the state tournament, they finished second in regionals, and second in the CKL Tournament.
Max Bieker returns as one of two seniors on the team. He was recognized as an All-State player, qualifying and placing 5th in singles last season. Keaton Leiker also returns with state experience, he finished 7th last year as a sophomore, while Ezekiel and Gabriel Baker return after qualifying as freshman.
Head Coach Vince Warbinton is excited about the season, saying, “We return players with multiple years of varsity experience.” He added, “I fully expect our team to compete for league and regional titles while also trying to repeat our top three finish from last season.” Warbinton also noted Jack Bieker, Brock Gengler, Atticus Pavlovich, and Judah Cooper as notable freshmen who could contribute in years to come.
The season opens in Hesston, before hosting one of two home meets at Smoky Valley High School.
