Iola CITF (Community Empowerment Task Force) announced today, that the City of Iola has installed the new Highway 169 billboards located on the north and south ends of the exit to Iola.
The billboards feature a design created by local artist and graphic designer Braxton Curry, who won the billboard contest back in February 2026.
According to CITF, funding for the bathrooms at the Donna Houser Family Splash Park is still being pursued. The Iola Rotary Club made a donation of $8,000 to the fund and due to a partnership with Thrive Iola, CITF was able to apply for a KDE grant for the remaining cost of the bathrooms. The grant will be awarded in Spring 2027.
“Good things continue to happen in Iola as we all pull together to make this a community we are all proud to live and play in,” shared CITF President Marie Barclay.
