With just a handful of days before the polls open on November 3rd – Kansans have already cast over 282,000 early ballots for their favorite candidate. As the clock ticks Adam Hamilton, Democrat candidate for U.S. Senate, has been on a tour around the Sunflower State.
On Thursday, Hamilton stepped off his “Leading From The Middle” tour bus and walked into the Ad Astra Radio studios. The pastor from Leawood reflected on how he watched Senator Roger Marshall and thought he was failing to represent Kansas, and finally got into the race at the urging from his wife, LaVon.
Hamilton has drawn criticism from both sides of the abortion issue as a pastor and a candidate, stating he wants abortion to remain available for women in Kansas. On Thursday he spent time retelling how his own mother considered having an abortion when she was carrying him.
Hamilton discussed a range of issues before boarding the bus again with his wife and two daughters but added he wants to be Senator Jerry Moran’s best friend in Washington and work on solving healthcare with other Republicans.
The race has brought national attention from the media, donors and Political Action Committees leading to a flood of advertising dollars. According to the Associated Press the race between Republican Senator Roger Marshall and Democrat Adam Hamilton has reached approximately $84.5 million, making it the most expensive election in Kansas history.
