Applications due Nov. 25, 2026, for projects addressing substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery
Reno County, Kansas – October 27, 2026 – The Opioid Settlement Funds Advisory Oversight Committee is accepting grant proposals for 2027 funding through the Reno County/Hutchinson Fights Addiction Fund. Local organizations are encouraged to submit innovative projects and evidence-based programs aimed at preventing substance use, improving access to treatment and supporting long-term recovery in Reno County.
Since opioid settlement funds began being distributed in January 2024, Reno County has recorded 910 overdoses. Although the community has experienced a steady decline in overdoses, the number highlights the continued need for prevention, treatment, and recovery resources.
Reno County and the City of Hutchinson have awarded more than $600,000 in opioid settlement funding to date and are expected to receive additional funds over the next 18 years. These funds provide opportunities to strengthen existing programs and develop new strategies to address substance use and its impact on the community.
The Reno County Health Department convened the Opioid Settlement Funds Advisory Oversight Committee, which includes stakeholders representing various community organizations and services. The committee reviews local data, identifies community needs, establishes goals and measures of success, and prioritizes strategies to reduce the impact of opioid misuse.
The committee is particularly interested in proposals that address the root causes of substance use, reduce barriers to care, expand prevention efforts and create sustainable solutions. Projects should complement existing community efforts while helping prevent prescription opioid misuse, illicit opioid use and overdose deaths.
