Neosho County Community College secured all three points with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Johnson County Community College in a fiercely contested conference matchup.
The opening half saw both sides enjoy periods of control, with the intensity of the contest making for a competitive and evenly balanced 45 minutes. Both teams looked for opportunities to gain the upper hand, but neither could find the breakthrough as the game remained scoreless heading into halftime.
Neosho came out with real purpose after the break and quickly made that intent count. Ivan Rocha created the opening for Keane Hazeldine, who finished to give the Panthers an early second-half lead.
Johnson County responded with an equalizer, bringing the game level and leaving everything in the balance heading into the closing stages.
Neosho remained persistent, continuing to push for the decisive goal rather than settling for a point. That persistence was rewarded with 10 minutes remaining. Hazeldine turned provider with an excellent ball to find Edward Dyer, who finished the opportunity to restore the Panthers’ lead at 2–1.
From there, Neosho showed the composure and discipline needed to manage the closing stages and see out the victory, securing all three points from a highly competitive contest.
Another important result for the Panthers and a performance that demonstrated patience, persistence and the ability to find a way to win when the game was in the balance.
