The Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas is encouraging women to take advantage of walk-in mammogram screenings during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
CHC/SEK recommends annual screenings for women ages 40 to 74. Kimberly Wass, the center’s radiology lead, said regular mammograms are an important part of maintaining health and can help detect breast cancer early, often before symptoms appear.
Walk-in mammograms are available year-round from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at CHC/SEK’s Fort Scott location, 2322 S. Main St., and Pittsburg South location, 1011 S. Mount Carmel Place.
Screenings are also available by appointment by calling 620-223-8484. No physician order is required for a screening mammogram.
