Barton Community College athletic director Trevor Rolfs has been named as the new boys basketball coach at Little River High School.
Little River athletic director Shaun Craft confirmed the hiring of Trevor Rolfs as Little River boys basketball coach on Wednesday.
Kansas Pregame posted the news of Trevor Rolfs’ hiring on its Facebook page Wednesday afternoon.
“We are proud to announce the hiring of Trevor Rolfs as our new head boys basketball coach at Little River High School,” Craft said in a statement. “Please make sure to give him a warm Redskin welcome.”
Rolfs will be joining his wife Kim Rolfs on the Little River coaching staff. She has coached the Redskins to four straight Kansas Class 1A state volleyball titles and recently passed the 500-win milestone.
Kim Rolfs serves as physical education and culinary arts instructor for USD 444.
Trevor and Kim’s son Trey Rolfs is a 2021 graduate of Little River High School.
“I am extremely excited to be a part of the Redskin Nation and work with these young men continuing the tradition of excellence here at Little River,” Trevor Rolfs said. “I am obviously very familiar with the immense amount of community support within USD444 and the outstanding culture surrounding all athletic programs here.
“I have been a huge supporter of all school programs at Little River and have enjoyed serving on the BOE (Board of Education) this past year. I am excited to get to work guiding the boys basketball program.”
Rolfs has spent his entire professional career in education and coaching, first as a high school physical education/social studies teacher, coach and athletic director for eight years.
He served a seven-year stint as the head men’s basketball coach at Pratt Community College where he guided the Beavers to the 2005 NJCAA National Tournament and was named NJCAA Region VI Coach of the Year.
He has spent the past 16 years as Barton Community College athletic director, administering 23 collegiate athletic programs.
Rolfs’ coaching career began in 1996 at his alma mater Quivira Heights High School (which consolidated with Claflin High School in 2010 to former Central Plains High School).
Following a successful career as a high school head coach, Rolfs took his talents to the collegiate level guiding the men’s basketball program at Pratt Community College for eight seasons before moving into collegiate athletic administration full time at Barton Community College.
Rolfs also started the Kansas Kings AAU basketball program and served as head coach for nine years. The Kings teams were comprised of mainly central Kansas high school talent, including Little River’s own Jayden Garrison, Trey Rolfs and Graham Stephens.
Rolfs played basketball collegiately at Barton Community College and was a part of two nationally-ranked teams.
Following his junior college playing career, Rolfs took his talents to NAIA Bethany College where he participated in both basketball and football and was selected as a KCAC All-Conference player in both sports.
Trevor was also inducted into the Bethany College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018.
