Registrations Open for Upcoming Events through Iola Recreation

The City of Iola Recreation has many events and activities coming up this fall, and registrations are currently open. 

Recreation Calendar (Sept. 23, 2026) 

Halloween Dodgeball Tournament

Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Recreation Building. Test your dodgeball skills by competing in an age division one-day tournament. Team captains form a team and register at the Recreation Office by Oct. 16. Boys and girls enrolled in kindergarten through 8th Grade may participate. 6 players per team, 1 alternate player is optional.

Youth Futsal Indoor Soccer League

Play recreational futsal indoor soccer on age division teams. Register online or at the Recreation Office by Oct. 18 for early bird fees, Oct.19-30 late fees apply. Boys and girls 4 years of age on or by Nov. 1, or currently enrolled in kindergarten – 8th grades may participate. Saturday mornings, beginning Nov. 7 at the Recreation Building. While this is a league sport, you will not be contacted by a coach, and there will be no practices during the week.

Boot Camp

Result-driven effective workouts. Monday-Thursday, 5:30-6:05 a.m., at the Recreation Building Gym. Year around fitness classes, ongoing sessions, join anytime. Register at the Recreation Office or the day of class. Ages 18 and older may participate. Boot camp will consist of a combination of weights, cardio and resistance loops. Exercises may be changed up at any time or adjusted throughout a session. Each class brings something fun and exciting, and is great for all fitness levels.

Yoga with Sarah

Low-impact group fitness class. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Recreation Building Gym. Year around classes, ongoing sessions, join anytime. Register at the Recreation Office or the day of class. Ages 18 and older may participate. Classes consist of using a combination of traditional yoga poses, mobility exercises, core training and breath work. By the end of the session, participants should notice an improvement in mobility and core strength. Classes are open to all fitness levels.

Horseshoe Pitching League

Learn the art of pitching horseshoes with a local group of enthusiasts. Monday evenings, during the months of May-September, 6:00 pm, at the Riverside Park Horseshoe Pits. All skill levels are welcome to join in the fun!

Open Walking

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., at the Recreation Building. Enjoy climate-controlled walking at your own pace. Closed holidays and special events. Walking time may vary each day depending on the scheduled activities we have going on. No walking in the gym during the noon yoga class on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. When the gym is occupied, walkers are welcome to walk in the Little Theater. The fall-winter months bring more indoor activities; a schedule of gym hours is posted on the doors, and a printed copy available to pick up.

Senior-cise Class

Low-impact aerobics class. Monday-Friday mornings, 9:00-10:00 a.m., at the Recreation Building Little Theater, excluding holidays and special events. Ages 40 and older may participate. This free class is offered year around. Workouts may include yoga, cardio, balance and strength training, or a full body workout. Classes are for all fitness levels and can be modified to each individual’s ability.

Exercise Equipment

Monday-Friday, 8:00-9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., at the Recreation Building Little Theater, excluding holidays and special events. We have the Curves Total Body Workout Equipment, a treadmill, elliptical machine, row machine, light weights and a few other pieces of equipment available for use for free. Individuals 18 years of age and older may use the equipment.

Register at the Recreation Office during regular office hours (Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm). If after hours, place forms in the drop box located on the southeast side of the Recreation Building; mail forms to P.O. Box 308, Iola, KS 66749; or online by visiting the recreation page at cityofiola.com – you’ll see the online registration button that will take you to the online registration site, or you’ll find registration forms for your printing convenience.

FYI: All City of Iola Offices will be closed on Monday, October 12 in observance of Columbus Day. This includes the Recreation Office and Building.
