The Buhler volleyball team traveled to Mulvane on Tuesday night for a triangular against league foes Mulvane and Winfield. After an up-and-down start to the season, the Crusaders earned victories over both teams, winning each match 2-1.
Buhler started slowly against Mulvane, dropping the opening set 25-12. The Crusaders responded by taking the next two sets, 25-17 and 25-20, to secure the victory.
Rorey Waldren led Buhler with 12 kills. Tori Tustian and Lauren Welch combined for another 13 kills. At the net, Addysyn Keller, Welch and Peyton Deberry combined for five blocks.
The match against Winfield remained close throughout. Buhler won the opening set 26-24 before Winfield answered with a 25-23 victory in the second. The Crusaders closed out the match by winning the decisive third set 25-21.
Waldren and Tustian led the attack with 14 and nine kills, respectively. Keller recorded four blocks defensively, while Deberry added two.
Buhler returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 22, when it hosts Circle and McPherson at Jim Baker Fieldhouse. Matches begin at 4:30 p.m.
