Student Arrested After Gun Detected at Wyandotte High School

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A student was arrested Wednesday morning after a firearm was detected during a security screening at Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas.

According to KCTV5, the incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. Sept. 16 as the student went through metal detectors at the school entrance. Security personnel discovered and confiscated the firearm before the student made it through the checkpoint.

School security and law enforcement took the student into custody at the scene.

No injuries were reported, and school officials said classes and other daily activities continued on their normal schedule following the incident.
