Red Devil volleyball fell to No. 10-ranked Kansas City Kansas Community College 3-1 Wednesday night at Breidenthal Court, with the Blue Devils taking the match 25-16, 25-15, 19-25, 25-19.
KCKCC controlled the opening two sets, taking a 2-0 lead after winning the first set 25-16 and the second 25-15.
The Red Devils responded in the third set, using an improved offensive effort to earn a 25-19 victory and extend the match. Allen recorded eight kills in the set while hitting .125 as a team.
KCKCC regained control in the fourth set, closing out the match with a 25-19 win.
Taylor Damme led Allen offensively with 11 kills, while Baylee Belt added seven kills and Kahena Di Grazia recorded four. Jaidyn Follis contributed eight assists, while Morgan McKinney led the Red Devils with 12 assists.
Allen also received six digs from Damme, seven from Follis and six from Belt.
The Red Devils finished the match with 28 kills and a .045 hitting percentage, compared to 48 kills and a .148 hitting percentage for KCKCC.
Allen is now 6-3 on the season and will return to action Sept. 4-5 as they travel to Fort Dodge, Iowa, to compete in four matchups against Northwest Iowa Community College, Iowa Central Community College, Central Community College and Hawkeye Community College.
The Red Devils will return for their first home matchup of the season against Coffeyville Community College on Sept. 9. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
