HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The countdown is officially on. In just one week, the gates will swing open for the 2026 Kansas State Fair. From September 11th through September 20th, the fairgrounds will be alive with Kansas culture, agriculture, and entertainment.
Whether you’re a lifelong attendee or planning your first trip, there is plenty to get excited about. This year promises to be memorable, highlighted by the return of the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales. For the first time in over a decade, visitors will have the chance to see these iconic horses up close with scheduled appearances at the 1861 Club and the Lair White House, as well as two full hitch parades through the fairgrounds.
The Kansas Star Casino Grandstand lineup is also packed this year, featuring performances by artists like Jo Dee Messina, Trace Adkins, and Gabriel ‘Fluffy’ Iglesias. These headliners, alongside a variety of Free Stage shows and roving acts, ensure there’s never a dull moment at the fair.
Fairgoers can also join in the fun by searching for rubber ducks hidden throughout the grounds to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. A total of 250 ducks will be hidden, some carrying special prizes for lucky finders. Additionally, history buffs won’t want to miss the America 250 Rolling Museum, or ‘Freedom Truck.’ Parked across from the Bison Arena at the north end of the midway, this traveling exhibit offers an immersive look at the story of America’s founding.
For those looking to beat the heat and enjoy some incredible entertainment, the 1861 Club is once again the place to be. Whether you’re looking to listen to local artists, play yard games, or catch a college or NFL game on the big screens in air-conditioned comfort, it remains the “coolest club you never had to join.” And, of course, no trip to the fair is complete without a ride down the legendary Big Slide – which is ready to welcome riders of all ages again this year.
Mark your calendars for next Friday, September 11th, and get ready to celebrate everything that makes our state great. Stay tuned to Ad Astra Radio for ongoing coverage, weather updates, and all the latest news as we head toward opening day!
