The Red Devils women’s soccer team picked up its first win of the season Saturday, defeating Dallas College Eastfield 2-0.
The Red Devils controlled much of the action, outshooting Eastfield 11-5 and placing eight shots on goal. Allen also held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.
After a scoreless opening 42 minutes, Karah Cooper broke through for the Red Devils, finding the back of the net to give Allen a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Allen continued to apply pressure in the second half, and Carly Hanks doubled the advantage in the 60th minute with another goal. The Red Devils held Eastfield scoreless the rest of the way to secure the 2-0 victory.
Cooper and Hanks each scored their first goals of the season, while Serena Cogolludo led Allen with four shots, including three on goal. Aracely Aleman added three shots, while Hanks recorded three shots of her own.
Defensively, goalkeeper Mackenzie Martel recorded three saves to earn the shutout as Allen held Eastfield scoreless on all five of its shot attempts.
The Red Devils are now 1-0 on the season and will return to action Aug. 28 when they take on Jefferson College (1-1) out of Region 16.
