Neosho opened the 2026 season with an impressive 2–0 victory on the road against Division 1 outfit Southwestern Illinois College, producing a strong team performance in difficult conditions.
The Panthers came out quickly and were rewarded with two early goals. Ivan Rocha opened the scoring before Danny Carroll added a second to give Neosho control of the game.
Both teams continued to create opportunities throughout the first half, with the game becoming a competitive battle in the tough Illinois heat. SWIC posed a threat at times, but Neosho held the edge and went into halftime with a deserved two-goal advantage.
The Panthers’ depth began to show after the break. Fresh legs and continued intensity caused SWIC problems as Neosho maintained control and continued to create opportunities. The hosts were eventually reduced to ten men following a red card, and from that point Neosho managed the game professionally, controlling possession and limiting SWIC’s opportunities to find a way back into the contest.
A strong defensive performance secured the clean sheet and completed a 2–0 win, giving Neosho the perfect start to the new season.
