McPherson, Kan. – Central Christian College of Kansas is proud to announce the hiring of Mike Milligan to be the next Head Women’s Basketball Coach.
Milligan, a native of Corinth, MS, commented saying “I want to thank God for the opportunity to coach Women’s Basketball at the NAIA level and at an institution that is Christ centered. I want to thank President Favara and Athletic Director Kyle Moody for this opportunity. I would also like to thank all my family, friends, coaches, and athletic directors, I have worked with and supported me in the past to help prepared me for this opportunity. I am extremely excited to work and start building a successful women’s basketball program here at Central Christian College of Kansas.”
Coach Milligan embarked on his coaching journey in 2011 as a student assistant at Freed-Hardeman University under the mentorship of NAIA Hall of Fame coach Dale Neal. Over six impactful years, Milligan helped the Lady Lion basketball program in various roles, contributing to unprecedented success. His responsibilities included individual workouts, scouting, game statistics, film coordination, and recruitment.
Milligan played a role in the Lady Lions’ record-setting achievements during his tenure at Freed-Hardeman. The team achieved remarkable milestones, including 11 All-Americans, a school record of 36 wins in the 2013-2014 season, three conference championships, appearances in the Elite Eight, 2 Fab Fours, and a National Championship game. FHU would compile an impressive record of 160-19 during that time. Milligan served as a student assistant, graduate assistant, and volunteer assistant during his time at FHU.
In 2018-2019, Milligan embraced a new challenge by coaching at the high school level. As the head coach of the Brentwood Christian School Girls’ Basketball team in Austin, Texas, he led the 5A TAPPS team to a commendable second-place finish in districts.
Mike’s coaching prowess extended to the elite level when he joined CyFair Elite Girls Basketball. As an assistant coach under Coach Patrick Hinson, Milligan led the Nike EYBL 17U team to an impressive summer record and an eighth-place finish in the EYBL Nike Nationals in Chicago, Illinois.
In 2021, Milligan joined the University of Health, Sciences, and Pharmacy as an assistant coach. The Eutectics broke numerous records, finishing the season with a remarkable 20-12 record, including 11 conference wins. Individual accolades included being the national leading scorer, 2 All-Conference players, and the Conference Player of the Year. While in St. Louis Coach Milligan would assistant Coach Maurice Lewis with the Larry Hughes Basketball Academy 17U boys’ basketball team.
In June 2022, Milligan transitioned to Crowley’s Ridge College, where, alongside Coach Brad Phillips, during the 2022-2023 season the Pioneers would finish the season with a record of 18-10 record.
Milligan graduated from Freed-Hardeman University, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Youth and Family Ministry.
Coach Milligan has already begun his duties as head coach at CCCK, jumping into recruiting and being acquainted with the program.
