4-year-old Dies After Reported Electrical Shock

On Thursday evening, August 6, 2026, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a 4-year-old child not breathing.

The Allen County Communications Center received the 911 call just after 9:30 p.m. and learned that the parents, with the unconscious child, were driving to Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, where the child was later declared deceased.

It was reported that the child had been playing in a residence in Savonburg and allegedly received an electrical shock from a 220v dryer.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. No foul play is suspected at this time, and it appears to have been a tragic accident.
