Attorneys for former Marion Police Chief Gideon Cody have asked to drop him as a client, citing a breakdown in their relationship.

Cody faces a felony charge for interfering with a judicial process after leading raids last August on the Marion County Record and a city councilwoman’s home.

Prosecutors later cleared Cody and other officers of wrongdoing. Cody’s trial is set for August 24, but a hearing August 5 will decide if his attorneys can withdraw.
