The city of McPherson has on recommendation of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued public health advisories for the lagoon area of Lakeside Park and for the lake at Wall Park related to toxic blue green algae.

In general the city doesn’t allow on or in water activities in those two bodies of water, but this measure is being taken out of an abundance of caution.

The Lakeside Park lagoon is under a public health warning due to presence of blue green algae, and for that all water contact should be avoided and pets kept away from them., Wall Park is under watch status, which means harmful algae is possible and may be present.

Areas where algae is present should be avoided and if contact with lake water occurs wash areas of contact with clean water.
