The Gold Team shut out the Black Team 3-0 at the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches All-Star Game Wednesday afternoon at Wichita State University’s Eck Stadium.
The KABC did not stream the game or keep official stats this year, according to KABC president Joe Allison, the head baseball coach at Blue Valley West High School.
Hutchinson Trinity Catholic High School graduates Drew Dechant, Kaid McElgunn and Sam Vogel were members of the Black Team.
Dechant was listed as a pitcher for the Black Team, McElgunn was an outfielder and Vogel was listed as a designated hitter.
Cheney High School’s Reece Tolar, Great Bend’s Daxton Minton, Sedgwick’s Owen Luper and Pratt’s Josiah Schmidt played for the Gold Team.
Tolar concluded his Cheney Cardinal career with a mound appearance. Tolar’s fastball was clocked at 93 mph in one inning, according to the Cheney Facebook page.
The Black Team was coached by the coaching staffs at St. Thomas Aquinas (Class 5A), Mulvane (Class 4A) and Council Grove (Class 3A).
The Red Team was coached by the coaching staffs at Maize (Class 6A) and Rossville (Class 2-1A).
