The ReUse It Center in McPherson made donations totaling $5,250 in May to three area organizations. $3,500 was donated to the Omega Project, $1,250 to McPherson Area Habitat for Humanity, and $500 to FYR Mac-Town. These donations are made possible through the faithful shoppers and dedicated volunteers of ReUse It.
The Omega Project is a multi-faceted, faith-based recovery program that emphasizes heart-level changes in men and women. We offer lifestyle change to those whose probable future would have been jail or homelessness. We provide a place to live, teaching and training in lifestyle transformation, work opportunities, and contact with those who have overcome the addictive lifestyle.
McPherson Area Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. McPherson Area Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.
FYR (Forging Youth Resilience) Mac-Town believes that equitable access to functional fitness, nutritional education, and meaningful, and positive connections can improve psychological and physical well-being, transforming the lives of at-promise or underserved youth in McPherson. This program is completely free to all athletes that choose to participate, no matter their socio-economic status, or home/life circumstances. The power of exercise is something that cannot be measured, but what is even more important is the immeasurable outcomes that can come from having a supportive and motivating community of like-minded people.
