The Hutchinson High girls soccer team spurred a postseason upset Tuesday in the first round of the Class 5A West Regional.
The 11th-seeded Salthawks avenged an earlier loss to Andover Central by beating the Jaguars 1-0.
The first game of the season, Andover Central beat Hutch 6-3. That was the most goals anyone scored against the Salthawks this season.
Hutchinson scored in the first half Tuesday and used a stout defense after.
Hutchinson improved to 9-6-2 and will take on No. 3 seed Kapaun Mount Carmel at 4 p.m. Thursday at Stryker Soccer Complex in Wichita. Kapaun improved to 14-2-1 after beating Topeka West 8-0.
