Nickerson High School announced that several weightlifting records have been broken this year.
The Panthers set some records during the first semester and again last Monday (May 11).
David Maehs broke the 220-pound weight class freshman squat record twice. During the first semester, he broke it with a squat of 410 pounds. On Monday he broke it again. with a squat of 440 pounds.
Conner Bower broke the sophomore 220-pound weight class squat record in both cycles as well. During the first cycle, he broke it with a squat of 440 pounds, and on Monday he broke it again with a squat of 460 pounds.
Zein Rector owns the freshman, sophomore and now the junior heavyweight hang clean record with a clean of 285 pounds.
Cale Ruckman broke the freshman 220 pound weight class hang clean record during the first cycle with a clean of 240 pounds.
Denae Engelland broke the junior 148 pound weight class squat record during the first cycle with a squat of 230 pounds.
Jason Almquist broke the heavyweight freshman bench press record with a 240 pound effort.
Connor White broke the junior 165 pound weight class hang clean record with a lift of 265 pounds.
Rylan Morrell broke the junior 165 pound weight class squat record with a 405-pound lift.
