The Buhler High School boys doubles team of senior Reuben Harder and junior Jaxton Gillette placed third at the Kansas Class 4A state tennis tournament Saturday at the Kossover Tennis Center in Topeka.
The Crusaders’ duo of senior Titus Bortzfield and Quinn Brown placed eighth in doubles Buhler sophomore Cayden Davis placed 12th in singles.
The Buhler Crusader boys scored 22 points to claim fifth place in the team standings.
Hesston won the 4A state team title with 43 points, followed by McPherson 31, Independence 29 and Parsons 25.
Winfield finished sixth with 18 points, followed by El Dorado 14, Iola 12, Wellington 8, Bishop Miege 3, Augusta 2, Clay Center 2, Topeka Hayden 2, Scott Community 2, Chanute 1. Colby 1, Abilene 0. Fort Scott 0 and Ottawa 0.
Parsons’ Wyatt Shultz won the 4A state singles title. Independence’s Matthew McLenon and Brodie Small placed first in 4A doubles.
Hesston’s Jammejay Patwardhan placed second in singles and Henry White 11th. Teammates Braiden Liechty and Tim van Bergeijk placed second in doubles and Jerick Humphreys and Ben Bartlett placed fourth.
McPherson’s Rylan Unruh placed fifth in singles and Cooper Bohme placed sixth. Teammates Jonas Emery and Mason Eisenbarth placed fifth in doubles
Independence’s Kevin Mah and Heston Smith finished seventh.
