HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Leveraging data and practicing leadership will be the focus of a series of free professional development opportunities hosted by Hutchinson Community Foundation this summer as part of its ongoing Nonprofit Strength Initiative.

Staff and board members of community-based organizations serving Reno County are invited to register for the following workshops:

  • All Things Kansas will be from 1 to 2 p.m. June 10 via Zoom. Jennifer Tidball, Kansas State University communications director for economic development, and Jessica Gnad, K-State director of economic development, will lead the interactive workshop exploring K-State’s free data analysis and visualization tool and how it can assist in grant writing, community innovation and other initiatives. Registration is required by June 9.
  • When Everyone Leads will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 18 at The Hawk’s Nest, 200 E. Sherman St., Hutchinson. Phil Auxier, a certified When Everyone Leads facilitator through the Kansas Leadership Center, will present the workshop. Based on the book of the same name by Ed O’Malley and Julia Fabris McBride, the workshop is designed to provide practical leadership skills and foster peer learning among nonprofit professionals, emphasizing that leadership is about everyday actions accessible to everyone, regardless of position or background. Lunch and a copy of the book will be provided. Registration is required by June 11; space is limited.
  • Data That Wins Grants will be from 1 to 2 p.m. June 24, also via Zoom. DJ Gering, founder and principal analyst of Lawrence-based Gering Geosolutions, will lead the workshop that will cover funder expectations, effective use of data and goal-setting strategies. Registration closes June 17.
  • Leading When Everything Feels Like Too Much will be from 9 a.m. to noon July 16 at Hutchinson Community Foundation. Leadership coach Dale Matherly, of Matherly Leadership Solutions, will guide participants in an interactive session that explores tools for exercising composed, thoughtful leadership in periods of pressure and rapid change. Registration closes July 10; space is limited.
