The Buhler High School boys tennis team placed at the Kansas Class 4A regional Friday on the Buhler tennis courts and qualified all six of its players for the state tournament next Friday and Saturday in Topeka.
In singles, Cayden Davis reached the semifinals after upsetting the No. 4 seed in the quarterfinals and ended up placing fourth.
Tucker Schlatter, seeded ninth, also upset the No. 4 seed on the backside to reach the fifth-place match, where he knocked off the No. 3 seed to capture fifth.
In doubles, Buhler’s Reuben Harder and Jaxton Gillette lost to the eventual champions in the semifinals. Harder and Gillette defeated teammates Titus Bortzfield and Quinn Brown in the third place match.
Bortzfield and Brown, seeded sixth, reached the third-place match by upsetting the No. 3 seed 6-2, 7-5 to get to the semifinals. They lost to the No. 2 seed before facing their teammates in the third-place match, finishing the day in fourth place.
