EL DORADO, Kan. — The Andale/Garden Plain softball team finished the week 4-0 with a sweep over the Wildcats on Thursday at East Park.
Andale/Garden Plain won the first game, 3-0, and completed the sweep with a 4-0 victory in the nightcap to improve to 15-5 on the season and currently sits in the No. 3 spot in the Class 4A West regional standings with two games to play.
Game 1: Andale/Garden Plain 3, El Dorado 0
It took until the sixth inning, but it was all Andale/Garden Plain needed to win the opener. Abby Durham’s RBI double gave Andale/Garden Plain the lead, which was followed by two runs scoring on an error. Durham and Paige Stanhope each went 2-for-3 at the plate. Ryin Gibbins went the distance in the circle, allowing five hits and striking out two.
Game 2: Andale/Garden Plain 4, El Dorado 0
Brooklyn Sele got Andale/Garden Plain on the board in the third inning with her second home run of the season. Bella Cates added an RBI single and Clare Krier’s RBI groundout made it 3-0 in the fifth. Coti Hiner’s RBI single in the sixth capped off the scoring. Sele went 3-for-4 at the plate. Rose Molitor pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out five.
Andale/Garden Plain wraps up the regular season at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, facing Pratt in Andale.
