The Hutchinson High School girls swim team edged Buhler 197 points to 173 for the team title at the Hutchinson Quad Wednesday at the Hutchinson YMCA pool.
The Hutchinson YMCA is the home pool for both Hutchinson and Buhler.
It was Senior Recognition Night for the Hutchinson Salthawks. Senior Salthawks honored were AJ Gooch, Emma Buller and Kensley Keast.
Classical School of Wichita placed third with 87 points and Dodge City placed fourth with 52.
First-place finishes for Hutchinson were 200-yard medley relay (Julianna Stivers, AJ Gooch, Alayna Wiggins, Morgan Most), 2:04.95; Stivers, 200 IM, 2:44,.74; Gooch, 50 freestyle, 27.07; Wiggins, 100 Butterly, 1:07.4; Most, 100 freestyle, 1:03.77; Wiggins, 100 backstroke, 1:05.23; Gooch, 100 breaststroke, 1:13.13; and 400 freestyle relay (Wiggins, Buller, Most, Gooch), 4:13.09.
Buhler’s Reyne Kaufman placed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:27.85.
Placing second for Hutchinson were Emma Buller, 500 freestyle, 6:35.55; and the 200 freestyle relay (Jade Brislin, Mariana Pina, Trinity Nichols, Stivers), 2:04.16.
Placing second for Buhler were the 200 medley relay (Hannah Swain, Evey Brooks, Avery Schrader, Reagan Walle), 2:09.14; Kaufman, 200 freestyle, 2:21.91; Schrader, 200 IM, 2:44.37; Schrader, 100 butterfly, 1:20.31; Walle, 100 freestyle, 1:07.14; Buller, 500 freestyle, 6:35.55; Swain, 100 backstroke, 1:06.47; and the 400 freestyle relay A (Kaufman, Schrader, Walle, Swain), 4:16.08.
Placing third for Hutchinson were Buller, 200 freestyle, 2:22.7; Pina, 200 IM, 3:19.53; Selena Eddington, 500 freestyle, 8:08.9; and 400 freestyle really (Kylee Dunn, Nora Yoder, Eddington, Navali Guillen), 5:14.69.
Placing third for Buhler were Swain, 50 freestyle, 28.54; 200 freestyle relay A (Addyson Tech, Harper Kendrick, Brooks, Lauren Auxier), 2:06.9; and Brooks, 100-yard breaststroke, 1:24.72.
The Classical School of Wichita’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Louisa Erikson, Audrey Arnold, Elaina Magana and Alice Schmidt placed first with a time of 1:54.53.
Hutchinson swimmers compete at the Andover Invitational on Saturday and the Salina South Invitational May 16. Buhler swimmers also compete at the Andover Invitational and host a meet on May 15.
Hutchinson and Buhler swimmers will compete at the Kansas Class 5-1A state meet May 21-23 at the Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center in Lenexa.
