Salthawk Soccer Hangs with Strong Maize Team for a Half, but Eagles Pull Away

The Hutchinson High girls soccer team continued its rugged schedule on Tuesday, and the Salthawks held Maize for a half, but the Eagles dominated the second half and won 4-0 in Maize.

The loss dropped Hutchinson to 7-5-1, and it dropped to ninth place in the Class 5A West Region standings, a half game behind Hays. The top eight teams host a first-round game. Maize improved to 8-4-1.

Hutchinson returns to action on Thursday as the Salthawks will play at Stryker Sports Complex against Wichita Classical.
