HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Families across the Reno County community are invited to come together for United. Read. Connect!, a free, family-friendly event taking place tomorrow, Saturday, May 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at DCI Park in Hutchinson.

Hosted by United Way of Reno County (UWRC) in partnership with the Hutchinson Public Library and more than 30 local nonprofit organizations, this activity-packed event is designed to spark a love of reading and connect families to valuable resources across Reno County.

Attendees can look forward to:

  • Taking home new, free Scholastic books
  • Exploring a Touch-A-Truck experience with Hutchinson Fire Department and Hutchinson Police Department
  • Play in a bouncy house and take part in hands-on activities from local community partners
  • Enjoy a free hot dog lunch

Designed especially for families with children, United. Read. Connect! offers an easy, fun way to spend time together. Guests are welcome to stop by for a few minutes or stay for the entire event no registration is required.

“United Read Connect is about more than just a fun day—it’s about helping kids build a love of reading and connecting families to resources right here in Reno County,” said Carla Stanfield with UWRC. “When kids have books at home and families feel supported, our whole community benefits.”

The event is open to the public at no cost, and community members are encouraged to spread the word and invite friends and family to attend.
