HAVEN, Kan.- Oct. 26, 2026 — StartUp Hutch, in partnership with the Hutchinson Community Foundation and Haven Economic Development, will host a free Grant Writing Workshop for small business owners on Monday, Nov. 16, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Haven Community Center.

The workshop will help local entrepreneurs and business owners better understand grant opportunities, navigate the application process, and identify resources to support their business goals.

Finding funding can be a challenge for small businesses, particularly when owners are unfamiliar with available resources or what makes a strong grant application. This workshop is designed to make the process more approachable and give participants practical information they can use when pursuing funding opportunities.

Participants will learn:

  • Where to look for grants and funding opportunities for small businesses
  • What funders consider when reviewing applications
  • How to prepare a stronger, more competitive grant proposal
  • What resources are available to support small business growth

Jan Steen of the Hutchinson Community Foundation will join StartUp Hutch to share insight into the grant process and help participants better understand how to approach potential funding opportunities.

The workshop is part of StartUp Hutch’s ongoing efforts to make entrepreneurship resources more accessible throughout Reno County, including rural communities like Haven. By bringing workshops directly to local communities, StartUp Hutch aims to connect business owners with information, tools, and relationships that can help their businesses succeed.

The workshop is open to current and aspiring small business owners, whether they are exploring funding for a new venture, planning an expansion, or looking for ways to strengthen an existing business.
