Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Baseball team faced a strong Kansas Wesleyan squad this weekend, showing resilience at the plate with several standout individual performances across the three-game series.
GAME 1: SWEDES 5, COYOTES 16
Bethany collected 11 hits in the series opener and continued to compete offensively throughout the game. Fernando Bones led the way with a 3-for-4 performance and scored twice, while Stephen Kent added two hits and two RBIs. Eduardo Tarafa also scored two runs and added an extra-base hit.
Manny Gonzalez, Yan Ortiz, and Conner Balmer each drove in runs as the Swedes continued to pressure offensively.
GAME 2: SWEDES 9, COYOTES 17
The Swedes showed fight in game two, putting together a huge nine-run seventh inning to close the gap late. Jack Crain delivered one of the biggest moments of the day with a three-run home run, while Eduardo Tarafa went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Fernando Bones added a hit and RBI, Stephen Kent drove in a run, and Bethany continued to compete until the final out. Fabian Dumey also reached base three times with three walks.
GAME 3: SWEDES 5, COYOTES 20
In the finale, William Sanchez provided the offensive highlight with a three-run home run as part of a two-hit day. Jose Morales added two hits, while Fernando Bones and Will Parsons each drove in runs.
Bethany answered with a four-run fourth inning and continued battling throughout the game.
Despite the results, the Swedes showed determination all weekend and received strong offensive performances from Fernando Bones, Eduardo Tarafa, William Sanchez, Jack Crain, and Stephen Kent.
