Hutchinson, Pretty Prairie Athletes Compete at Garden Plain Track Meet

Hutchinson and Pretty Prairie athletes competed at the Wayne Pipkin Invitational track meet Friday, hosted by Garden Plain High School.

Hutchinson placed fourth in the boys competition with 51 points and Pretty Prairie was 10th with 5 points.

In the girls competition, Pretty Prairie placed sixth with 28 points and Hutchinson was eighth with 15.

Garden Plain swept the team titles. The Owl girls scored 124 points and the boys finished first with 124 points.

Hutchinson freshman Cristian Medina won the 3200-meter race with a time of 10:40.99 and Lalo Rodriguez was third in 12:19.58. Medina and Rodriguez placed 4-9 in the 1600 (4:54.53 and 5:26.27).

The Salthawks placed second in the boys 4×100-meter relay (43.24). Hutchinson’s Sage Douglas and Lamar Govain placed second and third in the boys high jump. Both cleared 5-8.

Hutchinson’s Felix Hirt, Daniel Scott, Justen Gonzalez and Luke Jackson placed 3-6-8-14 in the 300-meter dash with times of 58.2, 59.03, 1:00.73 and 1:04.65.

Salthawk junior Isabel Castaneda captured the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.67 seconds. Hutchinson junior Avery Tecklenburg placed fourth in the girls 1600 (5:47.12).

Hutchinson’s Layni Hagley placed seventh in the girls high jump (4-6), followed by Pretty Prairie’s Ava Goering and Kian Kaufman, who tied for eighth with Conway Springs’ Addison Rusco at 4-4.

Pretty Prairie’s Lauren Detter placed first in the girls 1600-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 29.84 seconds. Teammates Halli Yoder and Amity White placed third and fifth (5:44.15 and 5:52.15)..

Pretty Prairie’s Kayleigh Vogl placed third in the girls triple jump (33-10.5). The Pretty Prairie girls 4×100-meter relay team placed fifth (53.13).

The Bulldogs’ Malachi Goering placed sixth in the boys 1600 (5:09).
