The Burlington Police Department office is closed until further notice due to storm damage overnight including downed poles sand power lines. Streets surrounding the police station are also closed. For non-emergency assistance they can be reached through Coffey County Emergency Management at 620-364-2123.
Coffey County Emergency Management’s Amber Presley reports a large tree limb and several branches were brought down in Burlington due to the string wind gusts, which area weather stations reported as high as 54 miles an hour..
A CoCoRAHS weather station near Burlington reported 2.13 inches of rain as of 7 AM today. There was also a K-State Mesonet report of 1.88 inches east of Welda , with just over a half inch reported at the Iola Water Plant which is the National Weather Service cooperative observer for Iola, and .75″ in Yates Center.
