Barnett earns all-American status, Robertson breaks school record at NAIA Championship

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Sterling College Indoor Track and Field had a strong showing at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday-Saturday, March 5-7. Competitors included Blake Robertson in the weight throw, Charles Jones in the long jump and triple jump and Belle Barnett in the high jump.

Roberston got things started off strong for the Warriors, breaking his own school record in the weight throw with a toss of 17.75m (58-3) to finish 16th.

Jones kept things rolling in the jumps finishing 13th in the triple jump with a mark of 14.63m (48-0.5) and 27th in the long jump with a leap of 6.35m (20-10).

For the women, Belle Barnett had a standout performance in the high jump. She claimed all-American status with a clearance of 1.61m (5-3.25) to tie for eighth.

The Warriors will begin their outdoor season on Friday and Saturday, March 20-21 in Leavenworth, Kan. at the Saint Mary Invitational.
