Cruz Cannon won the 126-pound division at the Rocky Welton Invitational on Saturday in Garden City, one of the largest and most prestigious high school wrestling tournaments in Kansas.
Schools from five states competed in the tournament.
Cannon went 5-0 and beat Maize’s Tucker Verbeck 8-4 in the championship match.
Max Harris reached the championship match at 175 pounds. Other top-six finishes for the Salthawks, who finished 13th in the team standings out of 39 teams, were 190-pound Jackson Anderson (fifth), and 215-pound James Hill (sixth).
