The Hesston boys basketball team improved to 13-1 with a 54-41 win over Holcomb Friday at the Hillsboro Trojan Classic and will play Moundridge for the championship at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Hillsboro High School gymnasium.
The Moundridge boys defeated Salina Sacred Heart 64-41.
Jesse Lutz led the Moundridge Wildcat boys with 19 points (including five 3-pointers and two 2-pointers). Easton Shahan added 16 points and Fynn Burge 10 (including two 3-pointers). Heath Churchill scored 7 points, Kaizer Kanitz 6 and Schmidt 6.
Luke Koland led Sacred Heart with 12 points.
The Moundridge girls basketball team defeated the Holcomb girls 34-23 in the semifinals and will play Salina Sacred Heart in the girls championship at 6 p.m. Monday at the Hillsboro High School gymnasium. Sacred Heart defeated Remington 52-39 in the other girls semifinal.
Cammi Unruh (9), Hailie Hecox (9) and Hattie Hecox (8) scored 26 of the Moundridge girls’ 34 points. Hattie Hecox grabbed 8 rebounds. Macy Kaminkow had 6 points and 6 rebounds. Jaylee Wickwar led Holcomb with 11 points.
