MCCF Shifts Match Week to Fall, Combines Events Into Countywide Match Month

McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson County Community Foundation has announced a change to its annual countywide matching event.

This year, MCCF’s Match Week will move from its traditional spot during the first week of March to the fall of 2026. At the same time, the foundation will combine its separate Match Weeks for Inman, Moundridge and McPherson County into a single Match Month.

While final start and end dates are still being determined, MCCF said Match Month will take place during a 30-day period spanning part of Oct. and Nov.

MCCF CEO Michelle Huddle said combining the individual Match Weeks into one monthlong event better reflects how donors engage with matching opportunities.

“We believe that moving to the fall and expanding the giving window will ultimately benefit both our donors and the participating organizations,” Huddle said. “Not only will donors have a 30-day window to contribute, but they will also have multiple matching opportunities at their fingertips.”

Matching opportunities will remain community-specific. For example, donations made during the Inman match will support Inman organizations. MCCF Director of Development Jim Ostlund says that the foundation will continue to feature designated weeks that highlight each community’s opportunities, including an in-person giving event.

Ostlund added that the shift to the fall aligns the county wide effort more closely with the charitable giving calendar and the foundation’s other matching initiatives.

“We know the last quarter of the year is an important time for both donors and organizations to focus on charitable contributions, and our affiliate matching events (Moundridge & Inman) were started with that in mind,” Ostlund said. “The countywide Match Week has been extremely successful with what many foundations would consider an unusual time to host such an event. We envision this change could expand its impact even further.”

Additional details about MCCF’s Match Month, including participating organizations, matching amounts, and specific dates and times, will be announced later this year.
