President Donald Trump informed US Senator Roger Marshall late Friday $5.7 million in disaster assistance has been approved for 16 Kansas counties impacted by a combination of Severe thunderstorms, straight line winds and flooding that occurred July 17-22.

Counties included in the federal disaster declaration are Barton, Comanche, Edwards, Ford, Hodgeman, Johnson, Logan, Marion, Morris, Ottawa, Pawnee, Rawlins, Saline, Stevens, Sumner and Wyandotte.

The assistance sought by Governor Laura Kelly and supported by the Kansas Congressional delegation will be used alongside state and local funding to help public utilities, communities, school districts and other public bodies rebuild essential infrastructure.

In a statement Senator Marshall thanked The President and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for their continued support of Kansas, saying this assistance means real help for communities that have endured multiple rounds of severe weather in 2025.
