Beyond Barriers Seeking Community Members to Serve on Board of Directors

SHARE NOW

HUTCHINSON, Kan.- (December 15, 2025)- Beyond Barriers, a cross-disability independent living organization, is recruiting new members for its Board of Directors. Community members with experience or interest in fund development, finance, marketing, or disability services are encouraged to apply.

Beyond Barriers is guided by the principle that no decisions should be made about people with disabilities without their direct involvement. More than half of the organization’s board members are required by the organization’s bylaws to be individuals with disabilities. This reflects Beyond Barriers’ commitment to the Independent Living Movement and its belief that people with disabilities deserve equal access to possibility.

The board meets every other month for one hour in Hutchinson. Participation is available in person or through Zoom. Members may live in any of the Beyond Barriers service areas including Hutchinson, Pratt, Dodge City, and their surrounding areas.

Beyond Barriers provides employment services, vision services, independent living resources, advocacy, and education at no cost to consumers. The organization serves people with all types of disabilities and follows a zero-entry approach that removes barriers to access.

Those interested in serving on the Board of Directors can contact Erica Rivera, Executive Director, at [email protected] or by calling the Hutchinson office at 888.715.6818. The main office is located at 115 East 4th Street in Hutchinson, with satellite offices in Dodge City and Pratt.
